Since Sue's ride was already full for Thursday, I offered a local ride today too incase any more ladies wanted to get out. Rose decided to join me, after riding with me yesterday (well done Rose!), so we were 4. Perfect. Janet and Jo met us at Woosehill.
We wiggled to cross the railway bridge at St Paul' s church, where we spotted some interesting graffiti.
Crossing the railway to cut through to St Pauls Church. |
Passing the Holt school , we joined a cyle path into Cantley, where unfortunately Jo's tyre caught a slippery piece of wood and she had a fall. She assured us she was fine. Phew. We headed over Carters Hill, around the Westley Mill lanes, where we spotted our first snowdrops of the year.
Then to Beenham's Heath, for a loop to Waltham St Lawrence, passing Shottesbrook Park.
Stopping opposite Shottesbrook, a big group of around 10 cyclists came along the main road. |
We'll not bother trying to catch them up. |
From WSL, we turned back towards Beenham Heath, circling around on Brook Street to pass close to WSL School. We didn't see the school, but HEARD the kids!! What a row!!
Plough Lane, West End. Busy road!😉 |
I stopped for this photo along Plough Lane. It was a strange light, and I liked how it highlighted the tree canopies. |
I caught up with the others at the end of Hungerford Lane, opposite this handy "frame" created by the hedge. |
Left now all the way to our coffee stop at Billingbear Golf Club. I've not used the cafe before, so a bit of a recce.

We left our bikes in this hidden area at the side of the cafe. |
Nice place BUT the coffee is from a machine, so not the best. |
Ready to do the last couple of miles home. Janet, Rose, Me and Jo. |
We left Jo as we passed her house on the Forrest Road. Janet also soon left us to continue to Winnersh on the cycle paths, whilst I escorted Rose back to Woosehill.
Nice to see everyone, on an ideal cycling day. No wind, and warm enough at 9 degrees.
