WLCG and 5 of us made it today! Just managed to sneak Jeanette and Gill in, between their holidays.😉
We had a time limitation today, so an early start and stayed local, heading to Wargrave. We started in 14 degrees, but in the sunshine it felt much warmer, and reached 20 degrees by the time we stopped in Wargrave.
Our route took us through Hurst, to Hungerford Lane and West End Lane, to Waltham St Lawrence. A right turn at the 5 way Xroads, and soon a left turn to cut through Shottesbrooke.

Over the A4 at Knowl Hill, and then the climb to Warren Row. That hill used to seem like a real slog, so we must all be fitter, since it all seemed easy today. 😊 (We talked about emojos today. Are they old hat? Well, since I've not long started using them, here is another one. 😜

Having climbed, we now enjoy the freewheel down Highfield Lane, noting that they have done some tarmacking to fix some of the worse pot holes at last. (Andrea came off here once and it always spooks me a bit). Passing the old barn conversions at Crazies Hill, we head down to Wargrave.
Think I'll stick to arriving by bike! These look very unstable. |
Taken by our waitress. She was very keen and did a good job. |
As we left it was 11.30, so a quicker pace home on the shortest route, which was via Loddon Drive to Charvil. As we left Gill on Sandford Lane, Martina shot off to climb over the motorways to Cantley Road for her appointment in town. Hope she made it. The rest of us took a leisurely pace through Dinton Pastures to finish our ride. Then the Reading Road back home. The roadworks at the new roundabouts mean that the cycle paths are properly open for the first time in months.
Lovely to see you all, on this gorgeous autumnal day. A few not around next week, including me. Off to RHS Malvern "spring" flower show....only 6 months late, whilst Gill will be at RHS Chelsea, also several months late this year for the first time in it's 108 year history. And Jeanette is bound to be off on another holiday. See you next time.
