WLCG Loddon Brewery via Henley - 33 miles

Loddon Brewery at Dunsden has reopened for tea and cake! So,  having never been,  that was our destination today. But to ride straight there from Wokingham is a bit short for us these days, so I planned a route via Henley.  Gill is doing a craft workshop today, so not able to join us. Jeanette is back from her hols and  joined us at the start, but sadly is still struggling with pain, post op. ๐Ÿ˜” So having come to meet us, she decided to ride back home, then drive to meet us for a drink at around 11.30 at the Brewery.

Route

We headed out passed Cantley and turned right into Hurst Lanes. As I waited for Lynne, a view from the lanes.

As we passed through Hurst, a quick stop at the pond, where a  Coute had a nest with tiny babies.

Passing the Vineyard we turned right, into Ruscombe, then continued straight on to New Road, and the field opposite was looking lovely with the path through the rape crop.

Next across the A4, and dropped part way down into Wargrave and across Dark Lane towards Crazies Hill.

All the climbing done, for now, we drop down Aston Lane, passing the Flower Pot and continue on Remenham Lane. Looking gorgeous with billowing cow parsley everywhere.

Leaving Henley, we now head for Harpsden, and a gentle climb to start with, before the inevitable Devil's Hill.  I made it again. Third time now, so hopefully I can do it, unless I am under the weather.

Turning right at the top, we take first left and drop down to Sonning Common on Blackmore Lane.

Blackmore Lane, nr Sonning Common

Through Sonning Common and we ride on Kennylands Road, cutting through to Bird in Hand lane, going through a flood in the road. Finally arrive at the Brewery. I think 20 mins late, so Jeanette settled in waiting for us.

3 pints of beer, and a cuppa tea for me.

When I got home John told me, he called into the Brewery just before 12, but didnt look round to the deck area, so missed us.

The view from the Brewery entrance.

The post van appeared to my right just as I took this photo, so I checked on google maps, and we could actually ride down this lane to our right, emerging at the pub at Playhatch, so must investigate on the next ride this way. (Also an alternative to going up the main road to Dunsden)

This is what a pint of non alcoholic beer does to Martina๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

A speedy downhill now and through Sonning, Charvil and Sandford Lane. It just started raining as we got to Winnersh, but made it back before it got heavier. Lynne off camping tonight to New Forrest, and Martina heading to Redcar for a week. They have both yet to pack, but were not prepared to miss out on their Friday bike ride. Great commitment ladies. Have a great time away with families.
