We had arranged to call in a visit our friends Peter and Dorothy again today, who moved from Wokingham to Burghfield Common. We can't drive there atm due to Lockdown restrictions, but can cycle there as part of our exercise. We sat in their garden from a distance of course.
We went a different route this time ie not though Three Mile Cross, and also returned a different way.
A nice route, and the countryside still looking very green with lots of cow parsleys. We also so Red Campion, White Campion, Honesty, and wild Geraniums.
route
We heading off via Sindlesham and then over to Arborfield passing Henry Street Garden Centres, then The Street, Swallowfield. Next across to Barge Lane and stopped for a few minutes at Kingsbridge Hill Bridge.
Then the climb up Lambs Lane to the Beech Hill Road. Crossing over the A33 we turned first right and continued straight before turning right into Goodboys Lane. We had come the opposite way on this route last week. Then a left and a right into James Lane, climbing up to Burghfield Common. We passed these flags and saw lot of other flags and bunting out today for VE Day celebrations.
After a short visit to our friends, we returned via Wokefield Common which was very pretty under the fresh tree canopy.
A nice downhill next into Mortimer, and to Beech Hill where we stopped for a drink on the "log" in the field near Beech Hill. The rape crops, so fresh just two weeks ago already going to seed. We continued via Barge Lane and and over to Part Lane, then up Beech Hill. The light here was lovely, so did my best to capture a few shots.
All down hill now, or almost. Back via California Park as usual. Then a relaxing few hours sitting in our front garden with a drink, whilst neighbours did the same .....apart from the kids who never sit still of course.
