Breeze Riseley via Beech Hill - 25 miles

Ride number 201 today. 😎

With Jodie in mind, I offered a Thursday ride today and Karen and Daphne joined us for a ride starting at Woosehill.  We headed to join Sadlers End, from Reading Road, to ride through the very quiet lane to Bearwood Road, and then down Mill Lane passing Sindlesham Mill.

From here we joined the cycle route on Cutbush Lane through Lower Earley and soon over the pedestrian bridge over the M4 to Shinfield.  Turns out the others had not been this way before.

Log tall shadows today as we crossed the M4 pedestrian Bridge to Shinfield.
Jodie laughed as she said its the only time she is been as tall as Daphne. 😂

Infact, the sun was very low in the sky today.   At times we all really struggled to see what was ahead, despite sunglasses and peaked caps.  Shouldn't complain, since it was so nice to see blue sky after ywet more miserable grey days. Yesterday, the temperature was 14 degrees, and today, it struggled around 6 degrees,  but with the wind chill, felt much colder. But once we got going, we were fine.

The sun lighting up Shinfield Church,
where the board advertises "Warm Fridays".

Into the cyclepath opposite the church, to use the Shinfield cyclepath system, with it's clear views today to the Green Park wind turbine, and the Madeski stadium.... and well beyond too.  A wiggle through Ryeish Green to Spencers Wood, where we joined Beech Hill Road.

Beech Hill Road, dropping down over the A33
to turn into Cross Lane in less than 0.5miles.

Beautiful light catching the crop fields off Beech Hill Road.

A little loop and we soon passed the pretty Beech Hill Church,
also looking lovely today.

Jodie, Karen, Daphne at Beech Hill Church.

From Beech Hill, a drop down, to climb up again on Welsh Drive to join Bull Lane, then under the A33 tunnel to tea at Riseley Village Hall. A few others there when we arrived, but a fully booked afternoon for them.

Top of Welsh Drive as we turned into Bull Lane. Gorgeous day.

Tea with a snowman at Riseley Village Hall.
(ready to leave)

It looked really warm sitting indoor, but time to get
back on the bikes, and its still pretty cold.

We warmed up as we climbed Farley Hill, and our final few miles were on the cyclepaths through Arborofield Green to Finchampstead. Finally on Nashgrove Lane,  up Blagrove Lane and back to Woosehill.

Thank you ladies for coming out on this cold morning, but we were rewarded with lovely clear skies and sunshine, and of course feeling all the better for being outdoors chatting and eating cake!  See you again in the New Year.
