Cranbourne Loop - 30 miles

A Local Sunday ride with John today, and the weather has finally turned cold overnight! 3 degrees at 7am. Time to get the long trousers on for the first time in months. We rode from home, watching the Garmin temperature gauge drop from the sheltered garage temperature to settle around 7degrees. Brr.

We have both been suffering with back problems, unusual for John. But sitting forward on a bike seems to help. At least until you get home. 😐

A climb over Carters Hill  warmed us up, then we turned right and dropped down passing Binfield Church.

John dropping down to join Ryehurst Lane.

From Bottle Lane, to Frost Folly and Malt Hill to Cranbourne on our usual route.

View from the Tally Ho Honesty Cafe deck. Looks like lot of Cosmos

They haven't yet thought to put in any bike racks at the cafe.

Another 5 bikes there as we arrived, but no one else. Too cold to sit outside today.

Then on Drift Road to Fifield and eventually through Paley Street. These roads were so much busier today than they would be mid week. So, note to self, to avoid them in future at the weekend.

We were about to take a RH turn to pass Waltham Place, when I noticed 2 cyclists behind us. As we pulled into the centre of the road for our right turn, they came up our inside, so we assumed they were going straight on. The first one, a female, actually overtook us our INSIDE as we turned off to our right. Unbelievable

A left turn after dropping down Church Lane, as we peddled towards WSL, but into Hall Lane.

Lots of Sheep on the left hand side of Halls Lane at Shottesbrooke.

This looked very pretty. Chantry Cottage behind WSL Church.

Through WSL, then to Plough Lane to West End and Hurst. Just short of the end of Plough Lane, a gap in the hedge to this field of bright yellow. I think  its Mustard Seed crop, as too late in the year for Rape Crop. But they look very similar.

This big field of yellow Mustard, extends from Plough Lane to the Straight Mile Road.

At the Hurst Pond, a left into the lanes and our climb over the motorways towards Cantley. Warmed up now! We averaged 11.8 today, which is a bit faster than normal, but we did use a few more busier roads.
