Henley loop to Lockdown Lodge - 32 miles

Monday again,  and Daphne was up for a ride (Linda still away), and John was going to join us. But it was a wet start to the day, and a case of waiting, and waiting...... Eventually, John and I decided that it was safe to leave about 1.15 ish, by which time Daphne had gone off the idea.  We  both put on rain jackets, since it was only 15 degrees, and infact it started to rain lightly about 100 yards from the house! But we carried on.

Or plan was to head over Sonning bridge into Henley to the Lockdown Lodge cafe at Hambleden Lock, which is only there for 3 weeks, and we will be away from next week.

Once up to Dunsden, we continued to Binfield Heath, then I requested we drop
down Perseverance Hill for a change, into the Harpsden Valley to remind myself of the gradient.

John just disappearing at the corner down Perseverance Hill onto the steeper bit.
(He has come up it twice recently and recons it easier than Devils Hill, so must try it.)

We came into Henley on Mill Lane and cycled the riverside path, since it wasn't very busy on this drizzly day. Then over the bridge into Remenham Lane, and at the church, we cut through to the riverside again.

The rain had stopped when we got here, alongside the regatta course,
and looking much brighter looking back to Henley.

No swans here last week for the swan upping! Did these ones get missed?

Lockdown Lodge, just before the lock at Hambleden. Doesn't look busy! Shame.

Lovely views from the cafe.

Fabulous reflections looking through the camera lens.

Frisky calves come to say hi! Thank goodness for the electric fence!!
On the pathway up to Aston.

We returned via Crazies Hill to Wargrave, then down Castle End Lane to Ruscombe Church, where the sky behind was looking rather dark!

Castle End Road, Ruscombe

We got a bit wet in the last mile or so, but didnt bother to put jackets back on. Nice to get out, since the forecast for the week ahead is a bit hit and miss.
