Breeze FBC to Rotherwick Open Garden (Monday afternoon ride)

A repeat of a ride I led a couple of years ago of an afternoon ride to this little garden in Rotherwick which opens annually for Charity via NGS.  Jill was free to join me today and Rose and Linda joined us. Nice little group, at a leisurely pace.

We started at noon from FBC, and Jill led initially to get us to Farley Hill on her preferred route which was Nine Mile Ride to the new Extension cycle paths. Then over Farley Hill to Swallowfield. Continuing to Beech Hill, we took the second left to drop downhill on Park Lane, where we stopped for the first photo of the day.

Part Lane, Beech Hill. The crop fields surrounding us are all ripe for harvesting.

Colourful roadside borders on the way down the hil.

We skirted the edges of Strafield Saye, making our way to Sherfield on Loddon, where the plan was to have a loo stop and a cuppa at The Coffee Shop.  It was shut!  Its not usually shut on Mondays!

But the pub opposite was open.😄. Rose had forgotten cash for the garden visit, so suggested she buy my tea at the pub on her card, and I would buy hers at the garden with cash.  But she then returned to the table with the news that no hot drinks were available, since they had a power cut.(This is also why The Coffee Shop was closed).  Ginger beer instead then.

Nice pub garden in Sherfield on Loddon.

The  joke of a footpath on the A33 to turn towards Hartley Wespal.

Lyde River at Lyde Green. Fun to see this little car go through the ford with
the dogs in the back. It had to work hard to get out on the  other bank!

Lyde Green ford.

The lovely Silver Birch trees at the Mill House

the Mill was running fast.

Within a few minutes we arrived at the open garden, about 2.30.

Jill and Linda paying and the bikes parked up in the front garden.

Our return route was past Dipley Mill and up everyones favourite climb through Hazeley to Bramshill.

Thanks for your company ladies. I got a bit wet in the last mile home. I knew it felt like rain! But its warm, so not a problem.
