WLCG Yateley via Owlsmoor - 22 miles

A 10.30 start today, since Martina and Lynne had a school thing to attend. As it turned out, it was -2 at 9am, so I wasn't complaining! 😨 I also had to give a fair amount of blood this morning at 8.15 in preparation for possible stem cell donation to my cousin, so the later start meant I had recovered by then.

Just 4 of us today.  Last week, we mentioned heading south for a change, so I pinched a lot of this route from a recent Breeze Ride on Daphne's Strava. I had done a lot of this before, but not for a very long time, so without my Garmin route would have been lost for sure. Since it was a late start, I suggested heading to Yateley golf club, who do a decent snack lunch.

Lynne was keen to get some extra points on the Innovation Valley app, by using The Greenway path behind Morrisons, (9p worth of points!)  so we did that first, and eventually to Luckley Road, to use the path through Gorrick Woods. There has been no rain for a while, so it was fine.

A beautiful if chilly morning, heading to Gorrick Woods.

Todays team of 3 + me heading to Gorrick Woods.
Lynne comes this way to work quite regularly.

The route. I've just learned how to do a screen capture!
Route

Through Ravenswood Village, and over the golf course, and soon we cut through the grounds of Wellington College. Emerging at the other end, a left then soon right at lights into Pinehill Road, then Grant Road and onto a horrible bit of very bumpy potholed track, running parallel to Addiscome Road, just below Broadmoor Prison. (would just go on the road next time!).

From Lower Broadmoor Road, we turned right at the clump of trees at the junction of South Road. This is tarmac for about 100 yards, then disappears beyond  a barrier into a nice track.

Right next to Broadmoor, into South Road at the tree clump.

Back in the countyside on South Road (track)

South Road. Crowthorne, but heading to Owlsmoor.

At the end of the track, we crossed the A3095, Rackstraw Road, and through the Owlsmoor development, sticking to the main road, which is an easy fast downhill run. A good way down, we turned through some barriers near Greenfinch Close, which is a cyclepath. ( A right turn instead here, would have taken us through Snaprails Park). We connect to Branksome Hill Road, another fast downhill.

Next, we cut through on a couple of alleyways through Rosendene Lane continuing straight, and eventually at a roundabout, and lights, crossed the main road, which would lead to the M&S store. This track now leads into Shepherds Meadows. We are now in Sandhurst.

Crossing the first bridge in Shepherds Meadows, crossing The Blackwater River.

View on the opposite side of same bridge.

Last years signet still with them.

The path took us to this railway crossing.
We all have no idea where we were!

Now following the route, we continue on a meandering road through a development, to Derby Green, and eventually came to a path facing this church yard.

St Peter's Church yard, Yateley.

Along the back of the church, onto a short section of track, then over the B3272 into Mill Lane. A fast downhill now, to join Chandlers Lane, which is a road we often cycle, around Horseshow Lake. We are just a few yards from the Golf club now, as we turned left.

Tai fish cakes for me (only one portion available!)

Martina's choice

Lynne had Chilli

Fish finger sandwich for Jeanette, after she lost our on the fish cakes. 😉

It was busy in the cafe, with a large group having a delayed "Christmas lunch" !!! But they were separate from the rest of us. Lots of golfers having a drink too, but we were the only others eating, so service was pretty quick.

Jeanette spent ages looking for her hat.... back into the cafe...
only to find it in her pocket.😂

Our return route was all very familiar as we headed to Eversley, then up the main road to The Greyhound, Finchampstead. A bit more up hill, to turn into Church Lane, and then down White Horse Lane.

Queen's Oak, Finchampstead.

Jeanette's recent painting of the same pub, from a previous photo I took.
Didn't she do well!

Final photo taken near the bottom of White Horse Lane.

Through Califormia Park, Nashgrove and Blagrove Lane, then incase we might earn ANOTHER  9p.... we used the Greenway once more back to Morrisons.😂

Fabulous sunny day to be out. Its half term next week, so the young onces might not be free, but a few of us hopefully will get out.
