Bray to Windsor with Kai - 15 miles

Stacey, Autumn and Kai flew in from NY on Saturday morning, then S &A  flew off to Norway this morning, leaving Kai with us for a few days. We asked if he fancied a bike ride on the tagalong? Yeah!  He slept 12 hours last night, and was ready to go as soon as he was up! 😂 We weren't quite ready, so after several games to keep him entertained till 10ish, we loaded up the van with our bikes and parked in Bray.  A grey start, but it cleared up  nicely, but the WIND was blustery at times.

Setting off from Bray car park.

Our route

Once we left Bray, we headed to cross the Thames on the cycle path. Its also a footpath, so we had to get off to get the tagalong through the very unfriendly bike barriers. 😕

leaving Bray to cross to Dorney.

Thames pedestrian bridge to Dorney.

John found it hard getting on and off the bike, so stayed on whilst
I lifted the tagalong extension round the bends through the barriers.

Final barriers, then Kai, can get back on to ride on the path to Dorney.

Once in Dorney, we picked up the Jubilee River Path in the direction of Windsor. It was deserted as usual..

A favorite stopping point with grandkids along the riverbank.

Selfie.

Part way along the path, we took a right turn and spotted Windsor Castle in the distance.
Windsor Castle.

Castle spotting

We went to Windsor, used the toilets, and decided to go to a cafe in Dorney.  We backtracked over Eton Bridge, and the boys were changing classrooms, in their long tailed uniforms.

Left here at the lights in Eton, where we spotted several Eton Boys changing classes.

Part of Eton College Chapel.

We joined the cyclepath once through Eton, and followed it into Eton Wick.

Church in Eton Wick. The spire catching the sun as we passed.

End of the cycle path as we  get to Dorney, then over the Cattle grid to Dorney Common

Hard work in the wind here! and no cows on the Common today.

Crocus cafe at Dorney garden centre.
Kai got excited over ordering bread and butter and chips. 😃😂

Lunch over, we rejoined the Jubilee path in the opposite direction, towards Maidenhead. We took  a small amount of bread left over from my lunch and dropped to feed the two swans. We were very quickly joined by several geese and a flock of gulls.

In Taplow, a left turn, over the Thames once more, then through Braywick on the cyclepath all the way back to Bray. A great success, and Kai never once complained about anything! Within 1 min of getting into the van, he was sparko.   He had actually peddled most of the 15miles.

😊😊😊😴😴😴

A bit of Pingu when we got home, so that Nannie could relax.
