Henley and Harpsden - 31 miles

We picked up the Welsh family yesterday at the bridge,  and I have walked 5 miles with the boys the last two days. (Crazy golf this morning.) They have gone to their other Nanna this afternoon, so after lunch, John and I made the most of our free time, and peddled to Henley via Shurlock and Crazies Hill. We never leave at that time of day, but with the lighter nights, we were under no pressure to get back.  We were off duty until 7.30ish!

We stopped at The Chocolate Cafe, and just had tea and shared a snack bar. My tea pot was unfortunately only luke warm, but John's was fine. Very strange. We had already waited 10 mins for it, so couldn't be bothered to have it replaced.

A few boats out today....

John on his new road bike, and me on my gravel bike
Our average speed to this point was 13.6 which was a bit too fast.

We left Henley climbing towards Harpsden, then climbed some more up Woodlands Avenue. The trees still showing no signs of buds breaking.  We cut through the woodland path, to Binfield Heath, which was pretty dry and then a quick visit for John to recce the Bottle and Glass Barn.  I did a recce about a week ago, and will be using it when the woodlands are looking good very soon, with bluebells too. (The Bia ladies were there today).

Down the hill to Sonning and then we came back through Woodley, which John has never done. Down Sandford Lane, and as we crossed to the lanes, a load of lambs were gathered in the field corner. We watched them for a few minutes sometimes "gamboling".  So funny to watch. I managed to catch one in mid air in this shot.

One lamb in mid air.

Home at 5o'clock, with an average overall speed of 12mph. That's the fastest I've done for a while, and my muscles are burning tonight. Trouble is  with John's new bike...... it goes faster! And mine doesn't!!
