Sandhurst and Crowthorne loop - 22 miles

With the forecast looking dreadful for Friday, and no prospect of cycling, I asked Jill yesterday if I could join her & Chris on their Breeze ride today, Thursday. There had been a cancellation, so no one was missing out. It was billed as a short ride from Wellington College, but with my mileage of riding there and back, I clocked up 22 miles. 4th ride this week, totaling 125 miles, so it was enough!

Jill actually added me as a assistant Champ so the spare space was taken at the last minute by Hazel which was good.

I crossed Wokingham, via Ludgrove, which was looking glorious in the sunshine with long winter shadows, and I stopped for another photo on my way down Heathlands Road too.

Then through Ravenswood to cross the golf course, which was also looking glorious this morning.

It was lovely to meet Hazel, Claire, and Valerie all for the first time, as well as seeing Natalie, Sarah and Linda, as well as the Breeze Champs too of course,  whom I see very little of since we organise our different rides.

We set off down the hill to Sandhurst whizzing down on the shared foot/cycle path.

On our way down Sandhurst Road, these trees looking very colourful against the blue sky.

Snaprails Park

At the end of the Snaprails trail, I got a bit lost, but basically we wiggled through the residential streets of Owlsmoor, passing Sandhurst school. We arrived at a ramp on Oak Avenue, which brought us to the open area below, and another attempt as some actions shots..... this time not directly into the sun!

End of Oak Avenue Owlsmoor.

Uphill as we move on to cross the A3095 for a second time

Much better scenery, as we disappear into South Road

School Hill, up to Broadmoor. Quite a cheeky climb!

Re grouping, then a right turn to climb a bit more.

So, now we are up, we enjoy the big downhill of Upper Broadmoor Road, to Brookers Corner, but it felt icy cold as we whizzed down that hill in the shade. At the junction, across for a circuit of the old TRL site. I had only walked around this once during lockdown, so it was nice to revisit on a bike.

the ladies all climbed "hill start" Hill, whilst I waited at the bottom with my camera

Leaving the TRL site.

Finally, Hatch Ride, left into Oaklands Lane, then a dogleg to Merryman Drive to wiggle through and cross over to ride through the golf course and back to Wellington Sports club for a cuppa in the cafe. Thanks to Jill and Chris for planning the route, and for the company of all the ladies today.
