WLCG Cranbourne Loop - 26 miles

Lynne, Jeanette and me out today. Gill was off today on a warm holiday and Martina was slacking!

John out today too, following the sad news overnight that Barbara died in her carehome. He was with her yesterday, which is comforting.

Jeanette is still taking things a little easy, so we decided to head for Moss End, and either turn back from there, or continue depending on how she felt. Pleased to say that she was fine, so we pushed on a few more miles to The Fishing Lake Cafe at Cranbourne.

Route

One of those what to wear autumnal days, and we all felt a bit chilly at times, but not yet ready to go into long trousers. We took the easier route to Binfield, using Bell Foundry Lane, and Diamond Jubilee Way. The missing link of the new bit of road, to avoid Ashridge Road, looks like it's almost ready to open, which will be very useful.

We cut through Monks Alley, Binfield passing this scarecrow and noticed further "bodies" up the curving driveway to Wiltshire Cottage

Monks Alley Binfield

A nice downhill to Binfield Church, then cut through to Ryehurst and Bottle Lane, then left and right to climb the little uphill behind Moss End Garden Centre on Boyers Lane, to the green triangle

Boyers Lane, Moss End

Right at the triangle down Weller's Lane.

Then our usual route to get to Cranbourne, down Garsons Lane, Winkfield Lane, and Crouch Lane. There were dozens of vehicles at the Lakeside carpark, presumably all fishermen, since the teashop not too busy.
Pinkies poised!

A gloomy day for fishing. Maybe that's good?

Our return trip, was backtracking a couple of miles, then straight on into Osborne Lane, once passed Warfield Church. Across the traffic lights, and soon right into Waterspash Lane pedestrian route to cut through the pathways of the Warfield Estate.

Lavender still in full flower on the Warfield Estate

Next we wiggled through the cycle path to the back of Jocks Lane recreation park, then up Jocks Lane on the gradual climb, to the cross the main Wokingham Road. Another wiggle through the housing development to  Turnpike road, to emerge at the ski slope. (or ex ski slope).

Left into Beehive Road, and over the pedestrian bridge over the A329.  Along Peacock Lane to the Oakwood Climbing Centre, and since the road ahead is closed now for the new level crossing to put in place at Waterloo crossing, Lynne suggested a "Byway", which she has used recently, and which was not too messy. It had a good base of scalpings, and was actually fine for now, although no doubt will get messy with leaf fall etc over winter. We emerged on the Easthampstead Road. Jeanette told us that friends of hers had one night BOTH seen a ghostly horse drawn carriage at this point! 😱

Turning into the Byway to connect Waterloo Road to Easthampstead Road

Finally, through passed Ludgrove School, and Barkham Road to Woosehill. Glad you enjoyed your ride Jeanette, and good practice for your 84 miler next weekend! Hope it goes well. See you again soon.
