Today I donned my RED Breeze Champ top for the first time since Lockdown in March. Still not my best colour! The route I had planned was 22 miles, however a few miles into the ride, my Garmin was complaining and telling me to do a U-turn, which of course I ignored... as you do. I had been chatting so much that I had gone a completely different route... but think I got away with it! Another of Anne's mystery tours😅

This the
Route which we rode (as opposed to the planned route)
Joining me today, were Sarah (who I had not seen for 6 months), Barbara, who I have seen once in 6 months, and two new ladies first time out with Breeze, Debbie and Louise. (Although I called Louise "Debbie Louise" several times. Pathetic.... only 2 new names to remember.) Thanks to Cathy who was my Breeze assistant today.
We met at Morrisons, Woosehill and headed out of Wokingham on the Cantley road, soon turning right into Pound Lane, then Nelsons Lane to loop back around to Broadcommon Lane. I spotted 3 cyclists heading towards us, and knew from a distance exactly who they were. Susie, Linda and Lucy. We stopped for a brief chat, and then took the Straight Mile into Shurlock Row, cutting through Darvels Lane then straight over at the dried up Pond. Then into White Waltham via Smewins Road where this chap passed on roller skates going at fair pace.

Now, left at the cricket ground down Butchers Lane into Bottle Lane. It was not far from here that Cathy asked which way were going to Wargrave ? Were we going passed Velolife? No I said. But of course we would be since I had come the wrong way.lol.
As we were racing passed Velolife (well going quite fast), I noticed Gill and Andrea, so I screeched to a halt and we all went over to say a quick hello. Gill was originally booked on this ride to Wargrave, so was quite surprised to see us! Barbara was ready to settle for a coffee here, but onward we go on our mystery tour to get to Wargrave. Now down Crazies Hill Road where I went ahead for a group shot.

Finally we arrive at our coffee stop at Cwtch Cafe. A bit grey today but mild.

Tea is so much nicer in a teapot with china cup. And the courgette and lime cake was delicious. |
Refreshed, we retrace our steps in to Wargrave but take first left at the lights and through the little path to the church, then down Station Road to Loddon Drive. No one had been here before.... not even Cathy, so they all enjoyed having a good nose at the amazing properties on Loddon Drive.

We crossed the A4 and then through Charvil to connect to Sandford Lane, where we passed Gill on her her way home from Velolife, and through the lanes and up Little Hill Road to Dinton. Finally we cut through Sadlers End back to Woosehill.
Well done to everyone who coped easily with the extra unexpected 5 miles. I was never in any doubt. Thanks for your good company and hope to see you all again soon on another Breeze Ride. If you can trust me 😁
