Wokingham to Beech Hill - 26 miles

Out with 2 of the WLCG today.  Martina's bike is not well, so she borrowed by Trek bike. She also tried out my Orbea e-bike for a while and enjoyed that too.

I had planned our route, with our destination of Beech Hill.  route

Starting from my house, we crossed Simons Lane, into the woods, and along Sadlers End, joining the Bearwood Road at the Walter Arms Pub. Passing the Bull at Barkham, right  into Commonfield Lane, then a bit of Park Lane before cutting through Hogwood Industrial Park picking up the relatively  new pathway for Bohunt School. Crossing the A327, up Church Road towards Farley Hill, taking Church Lane all the way to the top to Castle Road (not turning into Bunces Shaw). Then we dropped down Sandpit Lane, and stopped to admire the view not far after it becomes Nutbean Lane.

Into Swallowfield, where we stopped as we turned into The Street, where this house, "The Old Post House" is on the corner.

Now a left into Trowes Lane, right into Charlton Road, and almost straight over into Barge Lane. Since its been fairly dry recently, I thought we should try the first left into Spring Lane (which can be full of puddles in winter). It was fine today, and takes us over the A33, dropping down to Bull Lane.

As we join Bull Lane, a gap in a hedge allows this pretty open view. I got into the field to take this shot. Loved the little patch of daisies.

At the corner where Bull meet Barge Lane, we stopped for our snack on a log which John and I had used a few weeks back.

Now we rode on Chequer Lane, crossing straight over into Park Lane, for the rise up to Beech Hill Road. Turning right, we continue before a left turn just next to the church, to do a loop around the back avoiding a section of the main road. Near the cross roads, a field of Opium Poppy. (couldn't manage a clear shot as deep ditch just in front of fence)

Now the long drag of a climb back over the A33, which didn't seem so bad today, before a right turn into Lamb's Lane. Then a right(still Lambs Lane), and the drop back down to river level, crossing the old metal bridge on Kingsbridge Hill.

Next to the bridge at Kingsbridge Hill
Soon we retrace our steps for a little way, crossing back over into Charlton Lane, this time turning right at the bottom, left into Part Lane, and right into School Lane. Following the road, a short way after the ford, a left turn into Wellhouse Lane, where at the end we disappear on a track into Bramshill Forest. Basically keeping left, it emerges at Eversley Ford

A timeless scene just as we emerge from the forest track

leaving Bramshill, just before Eversley Ford.

Finally, up Park Lane, Nine Mile Ride, through California Park, Nashgrove and Blagrove Lane to get us back to Woosehill.

Well done ladies! Thanks for your good company.  I wonder if Martinia will have a new bike for our next ride?
