Wokingham to Wargrave - 21 miles

A slight relaxation of lockdown from today, means that up to 6 people can meet up (keeping 2 mtrs apart).  I arranged to meet up with 3 cycling friends, whilst John met up with one of his friends (Dave).

route

Susie, Daphne, Linda cycled over from Crowthorne/Finch and we set off towards Wargrave. No cafe's are open yet, so it was just a sort of end point where we would find somewhere to sit with our snacks.

Initially we went through the woods off Simons Lane, and since they were not quite sure where they were, we following it through to Bearwood Road, before turning around, and heading to Hurst. We stopped to look at the "Spoonville"which has been building since Lockdown. The idea came from Australia.

From there, we turned into Whistley Mill Lane to take us towards the  ford, passing this house which belong to a friend of Susie's.

Too deep to cross at the ford of course, so we handed our bikes over the gate and walked through the field with 3 horses. A quick visit to the ford on the other side, since we heard voices, and saw some children playing, soon to be joined by a 4x4.

Now through Charvil, and into Loddon Drive, where usually there is no traffic (private road, but fine for walkers and cyclists). A farmer was cutting the hay, and a big group of red kites were circling and swooping down at times.

From here, we continued into Wargrave, and decided to aim for the jetty at Cwych cafe. The cafe is closed, but we hoped we could sit by the river, which we did.

We continued along Willow Lane, just to have a sneaky peak at some of the amazing houses there, and also found a footpath to the river. Just a quick look then turned back though Wargrave to Twyford, and back via Charvil. Cutting through Beggars Hill Road, we then enjoyed the downhill of Sandford Lane.
My ride was 20 miles but Linda did 28, Susie 32 and Daphne something in between. They all reported the longest ride since lockdown, so that was great. Good to be back out with friends again.

Breeze may not be going back for a while yet, but we are fortunate that many of us has made good friendships now independently of the Breeze official rides, so can meet up on our own until such times as larger groups can meet once more. (With no loos or coffee shops open, it may be sometime before that restarts)
