Decided to ride to Reading today (Easter Sunday) to meet up with Jamie who would walk from his house to the river, and across the pedestrian footbridge. This would give us all our daily exercise and meet at a social distance. We have not seen him at all since the lockdown, apart from video, so I was keen to check on him. We took him a couple of slices of homemade brownie for Easter. (We are not allowed to drive to see him, since not an essential journey. We cannot go to his house either, so this seemed like a good way to meet for a chat).
route
The roads were very quiet today, since no supermarkets were open. Still a few cars, but roads were generally empty. Because of this we even used some main roads. We went up Sandford Lane and noticed that Dinton Pastures is now closed even for pedestrians, which is a shame. We continued through Charvil, then Sonning and used the A4155 into Reading. I don't usually ride into Reading, but on occasion have used the Thames footpath. We used the Thames path for part of our return journey, then cut through at Suttons Industrial Park and back though Woodley, coming down Sandford Lane.
