3 of the WLCG, were free today and the weather was perfect. I led a ride I had done a couple of weeks ago.
Route (after 6 miles) for got to start the Garmin until we reached Finchampstead Church.
We were heading to South Hill Park for our cuppa, but going the long way round, via Finchampstead. First part of the route was down Blagrove Lane, where the Willow tree next the pond is just budding up.

Lynne and Martina heading down Blagrove Lane |
Cutting through California Park, we used Nine Mile Ride and then up White Horse Lane (both of which are closed to traffic atm, so perfect!). The Church grounds looking very spring like.

Finchampstead Church |
Next up Wick Hill Lane, and down Dell Road, and left along the pretty Lower Sandhurst Road, and up Ambarrow Lane.
As we arrived in Crowthorne, we crossed the Golf Course, and saw sprinklers on the tee. Sprinklers.... after all this rain! The groundsman was close by, so I stopped to question this. He had had a few strange looks already from golfers this morning, but told us he was testing the sprinkler system, not actually watering.

The sprinklers now off on this putting area. |
Through Ravenswood and then we crossed the ford to connect to the Easthampstead Road. A large lorry went through the ford just ahead of us. (well we used the bridge). Was he lost, or just stupid?
|
Ford at RedlakeLane |
Now right and down the Easthampstead Road, crossing to a quiet lane passing the golf course, and then right to pass the crematorium. Finally left and wiggled through the cycle paths to get to South Hill Park, where it was now warm enough to sit outside.

Grounds of South Hill Park |
A bit more on cycle paths, takes us back to the rear entrance to Easthampstead Park.
|
Heading through the grounds of the impressive Easthampstead Park with Martina and Lynne, arms not quite long enough! |
Finally over Waterloo crossing, then cross the railway again on Easthampstead Road, and through the lane to Ludgrove School.
Lovely to be out on a sunny spring day, with just a bit of pesky wind, which seems like it been around for weeks.
