I advertised this Tuesday ride out of interest to see who is free to ride on Tuesdays. There were 5 riders signed up, but then one by one they cancelled their places, and so it was just myself and Katherine who rode this morning. I was desperate to get out after several days or rain, so Katherine's company was much appreciated. I don't know if the forecast put others off, but it was a dry morning and we actually were too hot, so no problem with the weather.
route
We started at FBC and rode up White Horse Lane, across Wick Hill and down Dell Road.
(forgot my camera today, so just mobile phone photos. )

Nearing the top of White Horse Lane....stopped for a photo... |

views from White Horse Lane |
We enjoyed our ride DOWN Dell Road, then Katherine remembered she hadnt switched her Strava on, so a chance to stop at this pretty house which I always admire on the way up ( but always reluctant to stop!).
|
Pretty House on Dell Road |
A bit more uphill soon, climbing Ambarrow Lane towards Crowthorne, and then across the golf course to Ravenswood Village. Next cutting through the Ford into Redlake Lane.
|
Half a metre... shall we go through? Nah. |

Views from Easthampstead Road |
Down Easthampstead Road next, then across and alongside Downshire Golf course, emerging at Great Holland Recreation Ground, where we noted there is a nice new cafe. But on we go to South Hill Park, wiggling through the cycle paths of Bracknell, and amazingly only getting lost once.
Our return trip, wiggled a bit more on cycle paths, before eventually coming through the back of Easthampstead Park.

Easthampstead House behind us, and now a nice downhill on the impressive long drive. ( turns out its not ALL downhill.. just a wee kick up as we approach the gates.) |
We enter Wokingham on Waterloo Road, crossing the railway, before crossing it again on the Easthampstead Road, just before we turn into the lane passing Ludgrove School. Finally a short section on Finch Road, and into Evendons Lane. Here Katherine continued back via Nashgrove Lane, and I came up Blagrove Lane.
Not the fastest average speed due to cycle paths through Bracknell, but otherwise with just two of us, we did a good pace, and climbed over 700 feet..... and no cake!
