Christmas Ride Wokingham to Yateley - 18.5 miles

Another chilly start this morning, but any ice soon melted so we were able to relax a bit more than yesterday.

Cathy led today's ride with me assisting, and we met up with Rachael, Becky, Julie and also Maya, whom Cathy and I had not met before. Maya had some serious mountain bike tyres, since she is used to off road cycling, so noticed any inclines more than the others. But did really well.

route

Our route started off from Woosehill at Smith's walk, then passed Ludgrove School, and through Ravenswood Village onto the East Berkshire golf course.

Julie, Cathy, Maya, Becky and Rachael crossing the peaceful golf course
Now down Ambarrow Lane, where yesterday some treacherous ice was waiting... but it was fine today. We cycled passed the lakes and into Yateley, on a route I had recced, which kept us off of the muddy tracks we often cut through in better weather.

Crossing at Eversley Cross, we started our climb up Longwater Lane, then twice in two days, up Dell Road.

Over to Finchampstead Church and down White Horse Lane, where the early mist never had lifted, and I spotted this little copse on a hillside. I had to climb in to a field to get this shot. Quite like the black and white version too.

I soon caught up with the others who were heading for Jacksons Cafe at California. Unfortunately Maya had to leave us at this point, so missed out on the fabulous mince pies!  They warmed them up in the oven for us too.

Absolutely yummy mince pies

Becky and Julie modelling this years must have outfits.
We cycled back dropping Becky and Rachael near FBC, and the rest of us continued back to Wokingham.

Chilly, but never felt cold today.... unlike yesterday when fingers were numb at times.
