1st Breeze Champ Recci Ride! Peppard to Goring 19 miles

Not off to the best start today. My NEW garmin told me I was off course, "do a Uturn" straight into the start of the ride. I ignored it and after a few miles it found me. I was very annoyed about this, but at least I knew where I was going. After several miles and approaching Goring, where I knew I would turn right and not drop down all the way to the Riverside, the Garmin did not recognise my right turn. It was at this point that I got a little suspicious. Apologies Garmin.. user error. I had loaded up the wrong ride.. similar.. but wrong!

Newly trained Breeze Champs Cathy and I drove to Peppard and set off on our route to Goring. All new to Cathy, and after a very wet couple of days, there were some substantial puddles and plenty of gravel on the lanes too. Cathy was also on her nice shiny new road bike. (Might not be shiny for long)

Leaving Sonning Common

This is where my Garmin finally found me. Lovely signs of Autumnal colours on the ground at least

On the long downhill into Goring. A patch of blue skies, and more autumnal tones
Having enjoyed the long downhill to Goring, no avoiding the start of the climb back up, starting with Pig city near Ipsden.

Top of the climb, and time for a breather.

A bit of downhill now. These stripy fields looked a bit weird in the landscape.

Bottom of the final climb up to top of these trees, and the Blue Tin Shop.
Phew. Didn't make it... and neither did Cathy. Not even on her new bike. Next time!!

Getting late for cake, so decided on lunch instead. Cathy had the Dexter beef sandwich
but it came LOADED with pickle!

The Dexter Beef on the farm
Just 6 miles to go, and most of it will be downhill now.Well, I always think that, and it never actually is! Well done to Cathy. Sorry about your dirty bike.
