Crazies Hill, Fawley, Turville, Hambleden - 26 miles

Stephanie led today's ride, starting at Crazies Hill.

We dropped down the long Aston Lane, to the Flower Pot Pub, continuing into Henley, round the one way system and out along The Fairmile. Then the nasty right turn, on an unnamed road heading to Fawley.  We talked about naming it... how about " Bugger of a Hill".  Well done to the 3 ladies who made it to the top. It's a nasty climb, and the others stopped to get their breath a couple of times. I confess to using my power button at this point... why not, I was saving my shoes from wearing out.

Starting the slog up to Fawley from the Stonor Valley Road. Looks pretty innocent at the start!

Then all pretty easy for a while through Fawley and on to Southend and Northend. Stephanie's Garmin was not entirely accurate at times and almost had us heading back down.. no way!  Not before Northend.  There was some kind of cycling event on today (in the opposite direction) and we must have passed between 30 - 40 cyclist on our way down the steep Holloway Lane into Turville. I have no intention of ever doing that hill in the other direction.

A quick stop in Turville for the benefit of those who had never been there, then up the next hill to Frieth.

All of us in Turville. A passing Vicar took this shot.
After the climb to Freith, we drop down again to Rockwell End.  The view looking back at Rockwell End.
The Lane cuts between these crop fields, following the tree line.
Daphne called the sheep and they came, then we realised there was a hole next to the gate!
Our bikes blocking the hole to the side of the gate. Were they even meant to be in there?
Here they come, soon to drop down the hill to Hambleden

Pretty Hambleden village

Crossing Hambleden Lock, just Aston Lane to get back up now, then home and dry.

Thanks for the great company of Jackie, Linda, Lucie, Daphne, Stephanie and Vanessa.
