Jeanette, Lynne and I out today and drove to our start at Riseley.
Planned route
Route
We headed up Bull Lane to Beech Hill. Along the open road from Beech Hill, this rape crop just starting to look very colourful.
Now on through Mortimer enjoying the lovely undulating quite lanes to Silchester, and that pesky climb to the top where we regrouped.
Silchester, top of the hill |
Around Silchester and heading towards Bramley, some interesting marbled clouds . |
We detoured a few yard to show the ladies this pretty pink house, looking lovely with its blossom too.
Now a change of normal route. Instead of turning right into Bramley just before the railway, we crossed over and skirted around Bramley.
Olivers Lane, Bramley Green |
Olivers Lane, Bramley Green. Lots of overnight rain. We saw lot of big puddles today |
Who goes there? |
Our tea stop was House 28, Sherfield on Loddon, then we doubled back half a mile or so, and took Mill Lane towards Stratfield Saye. Garmin stopped working at this point! Was
pretty sure I knew the way back (ish), but thankfully Garmin started up again after a few minutes but although it guided me correctly, only recorded the return trip in a straight line... WHY?
Up Laundry Lane at Heckfield. I made it up first, followed by Jeanette....
Jeannette nearing the top of Laundry Lane |
Lynne not far behind |
So were were almost home and dry, but a few second after I took this shot and got back on my bike, a lady driver, came from nowhere way too fast round the corner off the main road and thankfully hit to brakes, screeching to a halt no mo more than a metre from my bike. We both screamed. Then she smiled apologetically, but it could have been very different.
NOTE TO OTHER CYCLIST - BE AWARE IF REGROUPING HERE IN FUTURE!!
