Hurst Lanes and White Waltham - 22 miles

Today was a recce ride for filming locations next week, so I was on the lookout for quiet lanes with interesting wild flowers, thatch cottages etc to have as foreground interest. Didn't need to go much further than Hurst Lanes to find some suitable spots, then continued the ride to get a few more miles in before heading back.

Lynne and Martina joined me and we weaved our way back and forth through Hurst, and finally over to Waltham St Lawrence.

Over the last few weeks I had noticed an old bike by the side of the main road just outside of Wokingham, just near the Diana Brimblecome Centre, so we detoured to take a look at what was on offer. (the bike infact was not there today.)  The new owner of the cafe had been told to remove the bike and also an A-board since they were not allowed to put them by the roadside. There was a little sign just outside the shop. We were not ready for a stop but learned that they have a different type of home baked cake regularly, and tea/coffee and cake is under £3.00. They do sandwiches etc too. More for van drivers I think, but there are  few tables outside too, so maybe stop another time.

Good  clouds today, with the winds picking up during the time we were out. Gales due tomorrow.

Crossed over at the duck pond at Hurst where there were good reflection.
A possible camera position for filming next week

And another possible camera location

Continuing over the 5 way X Road at Waltham St Lawrence and a stop for a photo a Milley Bridge. Loved the clouds today.

We came back through Ruscombe, and at the roundabout at Stanlake Road, crossed straight over through Broadhinton Road (housing estate). I had not ridden this before, but knew you could cut through to Hurst. (cars cannot). At a ridiculously badly designed narrow bit, where traffic is not permitted, I came off my bike.  Ouch.  My grandson would be proud, that I managed to carry on without a plaster.

Shame I got the first scratch on my shiny new bike though.

3rd ride this week, and good to be out enjoyed the freshness in the countryside. NO TEA STOP, since we all have things to get done today. So, now for some work.
