5 of us met today at Fleet and did a new ride which was familiar to Kay who lives locally. Led by Susie, another Breeze Champ, Jacquie, from neighbouring Hook group joined us, as well as Elaine. One other joined us part way round.... to be explained later!
The ROUTE
The start was unfortunately on a busy road, but we soon got off and enjoyed some quieter lanes. We stopped at St Marys Church, Bagwell Lane in Winchfield for a photo. The light was not in our favour today unfortunately.

Elaine, Kay, Susie and Jacquie at St Marys church, Wynchfield. Behind is a very pretty
building perhaps the old school house? |
Then a few second later another cyclist appeared. It was my husband John, whose plan HAD been to cycle the same ride in the opposite direction, thereby getting back to the carpark around the same time as me. However his Garmin was having none of it, so he ended up joining us after he abandoned his ride.
Our tea stop at 10 miles in was in Odiham High Street at a very nice cafe, where we sat outside.

Breaking all the rules. A man on a Breeze ride! |
Leaving Odiham half way up the main street, we entered King Street (a road we normally come down into Odiham). It was therefore uphill, and after a tea stop, the legs felt it. Not a steep hill however, and soon we were heading downhill again. A bit of a climb up to Well, where we turned right at "The Well".

Right here towards Well, a bit of a climb. |

Right at the well in Well |
Some open views now enroute to the pretty village of Crondall. Shame the light was so flat today.

If you look closely, a large group of walkers along the hedgeline. |

Nice to see the daffs in flower |

We continued crossing the main road into Crookham then Church Crookham, where we made us of several cycle lanes, staying off the main roads. All went well until a bit of a roadblock.

Cycle path blocked |
Next we skirted around Farnborough Airfield. A very colourful display of Cornus plants at the roundabout.
Kay's local knowledge led us through a number of roads and cycle paths and a bit of unavoidable main road too to get us back to the start.
We had a pretty fast pace with Kay at the front, and averaged 12.3 mph overall. John was able to switch on his motor from time to time to keep with our superfast pace!
Well done everyone. Good to be out.
