Chilterns with John - 1st time for almost a year!

John has been unable to cycle for almost a year, and was determined to get out again. Following a couple of shortish rides last week, he decided it was time to try 20 miles, so I joined him. Bearing in mind he would stand the whole way, this was quite a test.... but he did it. (These willful Massey genes have their uses at times!)

It was a BUSY Sunday. The sunshine had brought everyone out. Our first problem was almost not getting a parking space at Mill Lane, Henley, which had several cars and trailers with canoes. Then as we left Henley and turned in to the Stonor Valley, we saw a sign "Super Car Rally today at Stonor." The problem with this was the amount of testosterone of the drivers heading for the rally.

Peaceful at times up the Stonor Valley

Standing all the way up the Stonor Valley

The rusty barn as we arrive in Stonor Village

So all these cars....... they over took us. Nightmare!!

Now passed Stonor, we hit the hill up to  Turville Heath, where thankfully things were more like normal.

Good to be out again, and that lovely view just before Turville Heath

Wisteria on the cottage and the buttercup meadow across the road
And now we are at the highest point.... down the fabulous lane in to Turville.... gently since plenty of pot holes after the harsh winter.

Cow Parsley time. White froth in abundance today.
And now into Turville, time to head down the Hambleden Valley. The little river running quite fast in the fields approaching Hambleden. How long before it dries out this year?

This group of walkers entered the field with all the cows , who got rather frisky! Rather them than me!
Pretty Hambleden Cottagees

This is me being brave with barbed wire between me and cow!
Then round to the tea shop, and flags in evidence following yesterday's royal wedding.

Always a shame  about the modern cars in Hambleden.... however.... then this happened!

So, another car rally! This time older cars, parking up in a field just around the corner.

Quite an eventful ride in the end. Great to be back out with my hubby. xx
