Crazies Hill to Lane End - 22 miles

Some new bits today for me, and it was "undulating" to say the least. Most undulations seemed to up uphill with a 433 Mtr gain over the course of the ride.

Route recorded on John's GARMIN

We parked at The Horns Pub , Crazies Hill and set off on usual route down to Aston, and across Hambleden Lock. Once over the lock a steep climb to Rotten Row, as in , get off and admire the view kind of steep!

John ahead of me on the climb to Rotten Row.. he missed the view  behind him....

Looking back from the climb towards Rotten Row

always amazes me how these Beech trees stay up, with so many roots exposed in the banking. Lovely light today.
Once at the top, we took a left turn towards Lower Woodend. At first a very steep decent, with the inevitable very steep climb back out again. Wasnt prepared. Next time, into low gear before the bottom of the downhill, otherwise no way you can get up.

Next headed towards Freith with some great views.  Just a hint of autumn in the trees, but must go back in a couple of weeks.

At the crossroads in Freith a right turn towards Lane End. Not been on this stretch before. It was all uphill of course. Gradual, but all uphill.

Finally, at Wheeler End, we turn towards Bolton End, and start our decent. This brings us into Fingest, and this next shot taken just before the bottom of the hill, looking towards Fingest with the hills around Turville in the far distance. Had to hold the camera above my head to get this shot. Wish they would cut the hedge!

Now on familiar ground, a quick stop just before Fingest for the next few photos through this gate. The light was so good today, and John was happy to stop (unlike my Breeze buddies who just keep going!)

and looking back to where we came from.
Now a left turn, following the Hambleden Valley road through Skirmett, and another lovley scene of light on this clump of trees.  Also like the tractor wheel marks adding to the scene.

On towards Hambleden Village.

Loved the houses nestled amongst the trees and the cows huddled under the big  trees.

We were very good and SHARED a piece of lemon cake, at the Village Store.

Almost back, across the river. I have taken photos at the weir so many times, but always love the reflections.

Ducks doing what ducks do.
