Wokingham to Yately - 23.5 miles

After Sunday' s 50 mile ride, a more gentle ride today taking in The Ridges and Blackwater Valley, led by Stephanie and Carole.  A good amount of off road today, which meant going on my hybrid bike.

A new lady, Barbara, also joined us. New to our group, but  a very competent cyclist. Susie back out with us too. Hurray!

The rest of the team were Liliana, Jackie, Lottie, Elise, and me.

I always get a bit lost as to what happens on a couple of cut throughs on this ride, but this is pretty close...
The Route

Started at FBC, down Nine Mile Ride, into Warren Lane, then up the "Gallop Track". Not at a gallop pace though! Since last time the nasty bit near the top has been filled in, so most of us made it in one go.

New rider  Barbara... no problem

Lottie up next

Then across Church Lane, and headed into The Finchampstead Ridges....Sorry ladies my camera too slow for the speed of the downhill section!

Next down Lower Sandhurst Road and around the lanes on the edge of Horseshoe Lake and into Yateley, continuing through Up Green, to Eversley Cross and The Chequers Pub, where NO CAKES WERE CONSUMED ! (but some might have helped themselves to free toast)

Next up Longwater Lane, and right into Cricket Hill. A detour around Horshoe Lake now on the cycle path, which runs out, and you have to "walk with your bike"

Horseshoe Lake, and not a breath of wind
Thanks to Carole for this one to include me

The non cycle friendly gates

And now the inevitable Dell Road climb as well as Wick Hill Lane, before the lovely  freewheel down White Horse Lane.

Glorious weather with the odd spit and spot of rain, which thankfully came to nothing. Very oppressive weather though, and last night thunder storms have done nothing to clear the air.BLOG UPDATE.... 5pm.... ITS CHUCKING IT DOWN!!! Hurray
