Wokingham to West End - 20 miles

Since I was unable to attend both Breeze rides this week, due to work, I put a call out yesterday for anyone who was free to ride today.    Just Carole and I this morning, so we went a pace on our road bikes, this 20 mile route to West End, via Cantley, Binfield, Shurlock Row. Top speed 27mph. It was nice to be able to show Carole some new lanes, as of course she is normally leading the ride.

Our route

Update on Susie. On our Windsor ride last week, Susie had a fall, which resulted in her having 20 stitches in her shin, caused we think by her pedal.  Ouch. It wasn't pretty, but she coped better than many would have done. A few of us have independently been to visit, and she is doing well, following Doctor's orders to keep her leg elevated and rest. We send our best wishes, and hope to see her back out in a few weeks time.

Binfield Road, Wokingham where the fields are higher than the road, always easy to photograph!

Carole waiting for the photographer. Just an occasional car on this very quiet Binfield Road.

A terrible attempt at a selfie at Hurst Pond, where we turned off left.

From Shurlock Row, we meandered through some Lanes towards West End, including investigating Mire Lane for a possible extension to this route on hybrid bikes.

West End Lane, the first of 3 lots of riders enjoying this glorious spring morning

Looks like they have had a perm!

Tea stop at 18 miles at Ashridge Manor Garden Centre, Forest Rd.

Thanks for your company Carole! Good to get out before the weather turns grey over the next few days.
