WLCG - When is a ride not a ride?

This is for Martina, who said she looks forward to reading today's blog, despite the fact we went nowhere. 😂

A lot of poor excuses today.

  1. Not feeling well
  2. Dentist
  3. Choir practice
  4. Bike Maintenance course (ok, that's a good one!)

So the committed ones among us, (Me and Gill), decided to wait until the predicted rain had past, and then do a local ride from about 11ish. Gill needed to be back by mid afternoon, so a short local ride.   I suspected that Daphne's Friday clique would have wimped out yesterday (I was right!), so I mentioned to her she could join us for a ride if she was abandoned. 😉 She said thanks, but she had lots to do at home.

30 mins later, her FOMO message arrived.  "see you at 11!. 😂

So, Daphne drove and Gill cycled to my house. It had hardly rained all morning to this point. So annoying, but now it was quite heavy. Gill got a little wet, but not much on her ride over. They came in for a few minutes to wait until the rain had passed.

John had a couple of willing volunteers to
test is uncooked Guiness Cake mixture.

The rain persisted, so Daphne drove us to Ashridge Garden Centre cafe for a cuppa. Gill had never been there before. It was busy, and the very nice, welcoming young man, said only tables outside atm.... it was a bit cold! But just in time, a couple were leaving.  So we got to sit inside.

A nice chat, and then Daphne wanted to buy some plants to fill her newly emptied patio pots. By this time the rain had stopped, but we all decided our moment had passed to cycle today, especially with mid afternoon commitments by both of them.

I had thought of peddling home with Gill, but since I've ridden 4 times this week already, talked myself out of it.

News hot off the press.   Lynne peddled to her choir practice in Sandhurst, clocking up 12 miles. Well done. I was never in any doubt that you would and hope you didn't get too wet. 👏

Louise, who has been away on holiday for several weeks, is at a bike maintenance course today, so we look forward to having your expertise on our future rides.

Hope to see a good turnout next week ladies, which is Good Friday, so maybe some of you have other plans.
