Breeze with Rose & Karen "Motivational Monday"- Ascot loop 19 miles

Both of my Monday buddies not free today, and since Rose posted a Breeze Monday ride from Ascot, I asked if OK to join her since it was not full.  Breeze leader Karen put the route together, so they shared the leading today.  Rose had hoped to encourage Ascot riders to join her, by advertising on local social media, but unfortunately no one signed up. We did however have a full ride, all cyclists I know, other than Linda who is a running friend of Rose. We were blessed with amazing weather from the word go, and finished in 16 degrees!

(I took my action camera on my handlebars today, to start collecting video for my " Breeze 2026" film. So a few screenshots included)

We met at a car park in South Ascot, and started out by riding towards Sunninghill (Sun AND HILL). We had a few cheeky climbs this morning!  From Sunninghill to Sunningdale, where we pulled over at this impressive church, funnily enough on Church Road. 😂

A  very short section on the A30, before we disappeared into this  track,
which lead to the grounds of the impressive Coworth Park.

The track soon turns to tarmac as we head into Coworth Park.

A short section of the A329 to turn right at the Bluebell restaurant, then into Blacknest Gate Road, and into Windsor Great Park.

I cycled ahead a little to catch the group heading downhill to Watersplash Lane
exit of the Great Park.

At the end of New Mile Ride, where it comes to the racecourse, I normally cross over to cut through the racecourse, but today we turned right onto Winkfield Road, continuing to Forest Road. A bit of traffic on this next section, but we split into 2 groups, to make our way to Locks Ride Recreation Ground, which was our coffee stop.

The owner was delighted to see us, since no other customer.
He asked for some photos to use on social media.
(he is now following our FB page )

We sat outside in glorious weather, before continuing a little further on Forest Road, to take a right turn into Winkfield Row, passing Lambrook School.  A left turn soon doing 3 sides of a triangle into Cricketers Lane, since Karen has not been here for ages she said.  (I've not been here for decades! I use to have lunch at The Cricketers when I worked in Bracknell, a lifetime ago! ).

Down Sandy Lane, some of which is uphill.... and Linda left us just before we reached the Racecourse.  The main road in through the gate was shut today, so a little diversion, and  we had to walk across the course itself.

Walking across the precious turf at Ascot Racecourse.

Our leaders now heading into the tunnel.

across Ascot High Street into into this path which leads to the station.
( another new bit for me today)

A tunnel below the railway.

And we are back to the start in South Ascot.

Thanks Karen and Rose for a lovely route today, and for giving up your Monday to lead a ride.  Now have a rest.
