Henley via Cazies Hill - 33.33 miles.

Monday ride, and Linda was missing today, with a few preparation for visitors arriving tomorrow. So, we were 4, and started at our house at 9.15, hoping to be back before the rain showers which were expected after mid day.

A cool morning.... again, but it got to around 19 degrees by the time we reached Henley.

From Shurlock Row, we turned left at the pond, and spotted some Highland Coos, at the farm where we saw them last year. Unfortunately, they were in the second field, so a bit far away, but we could see the "babies".

At least two calves this year, different shades of red.

Straight over to Waltham St Lawrence, and we pulled over to allow some cars to pass.

Verges still looking colourful

Over the A4 to Tag Lane, and then our little climb to Crazies Hill, where I spotted these poppies. I've yet to see a field of poppies this year. 😞

Crazies Hill

Down to the Flower Pot next, and along Remenham Lane, where, at the junction with Church Lane, a few cars joined us, since the diversions were still in place from the Henley Regatta.  Lots of van and lorries today trying to leave the site, and further chaos when we met the dustbin truck on one of the narrow corners. We got off and walked.

Next roadblock on Remenham Lane this huge truck was trying to maneuver into a gate. We eventually got passed only to join the next queue over the bridge. Chaos!

Since we walked on the path over the bridge, a chance for a photo.
Not liking the look of that cloud.😟

Crochet butterflies on the museum wall in the carpark.

Velolife at the Museum. John had carrot cake.... with 3 forks, so
Dave and I could get a corner. The cakes are much too big anyway.

Today's team. Short sleeves, no jackets.......

.... but looks what's coming. Let's GO!

We got as far as the edge of Harpsden, when it started drizzling, then suddenly got worse, so we sheltered under a tree to take cover. Jackets on, then it eased off after just a couple of minutes. Along the Harpsden Valley, where the temperature dropped to 15 degrees, but of course we warmed up climbing Perseverance Hill.

Top of Perseverance Hill, and now to Binfield Heath
and to Sonning.

A brief stop at Sonning Bridge, which all looks normal.

But a closer look,  and that is a CASH MACHINE 😂
The latest "art installation", which replaces the post box.
On a tree seat in Sonning.

Any minute now Dave. We're off.

Pound Lane was closed today, so the road to Charvil was quite busy with traffic which we rode in 2 groups.  Then back via Beggarshill Road and Sandford Lane to Winnersh, with more light drizzle. John, leading, for some reason went via Toutley Road, to Emmbrook,  which is a longer way back to Woosehill. (Not sure why we followed him. I always come back via Simons Lane.)

Anyway, we barely got wet, so glad we ignored the forecast and got out for a ride. Nice to see everyone, as not free next week, and then Daphne away for 2 weeks. See you when it warms up in August.... surely!!
