Sunday, and feeling not a jot guilty about using my ebike since done a lot of miles this past week. With rain due lunchtime, we set off about 9, to head up Sandford Lane. We cut through Beggarshill Road, where you couldn't see the tarmac for leaves. It's been very blustery off and on this past week, and loads of leaves have come down all at once.

Beggarshill Road. Where's the road gone? |
Through Sonning to Playhatch, where this house was looking lovley with it's Virginia Creeper. |
It was fun climbing Dundsden Hill with power on. 😊I fancied going to see the woods at Woodlands Avenue Harpsden, so in Binfield Heath, we turned down the hill into Shiplake Cross.

Dogleg over the main road to drop down Mill Lane into Shiplake. (This shot taken on "sports mode". The colours much more muted than when in Aperture Priority.) |
Th is on Aperture priority and pretty accurate to what we saw. |
climbing away from Lower Shiplake towards Harpsden, on Woodlands Avenue |
Then a quick stop for mobile phone shot in the puddle. Turning the camera upside down to get the lens at water level. (John just been to a workshop.😉)
Woodlands Avenue. The colours really were orange. |
Lots of leaves now off the trees but a lovely carpet. |
From Harpsden to Henley and to the Riverside Rowing Museum cafe. I have been here many times, but John had never been. (he thought he preferred the Chocolate cafe, but may be converted.) The museum has been closed for a long time for refurbishment, and I've been watching out for the reopening of the cafe. The Velolife owner, Lee, has just this week reopened the cafe. (closed Tuesdays) It's a great space, lots of indoor tables, but also a big outdoor terrace for sunny days. No views of the river, but nice views over the meadow.

Velolife at the Rowing Museum. |
Over Henley bridge and our return leg along Remenham Lane. The wind had really picked up, so was glad to have the magic power button most of the way back. 30mph gusts at times.
Views from Remenham Lane to the other side of the Thames. |
"THAT" Tree, where we often cut down to cross the weir. |
A tiny bit further right. |
And behind us on the opposite side of Remenham Lane. |
An interesting tree line if the light catches it. |
Easy peasy up Aston Lane with power, and we rode to Crazies Hill and Ruscombe, passing the Vineyard.
Poplar Lane, Hurst. So unusual to see the fresh limey green crops this time of year with Autumn foliage on the hedges. (Mustard seed I believe) |
It never did rain, just the occasional spitting. We were home by 12.30 for a change! Then whilst John cleaned several bikes, I picked up all the Catalpa leaves which came down this week... individually by hand! And then it poured at 3 o'clock.
