Breeze Building Miles week 1 - Hurst Lanes 10 miles

What a beautiful day for the start of our 4 Weeks of Building Miles and Confidence Rides. Cathy kindly assisted today. Not all new to Breeze, but lovely to welcome Gehana to her first ride. And it turns out she knows Becky, and they share a few other friends too, so that was nice. Welcome back to Becky and Catherine whom I have not seen for a long time, and to Daphne who is recovering from an illness, and so a gentle ride today was perfect for her too.

We used the  cycle paths of the northern distribution road to get to Winnersh, then once over the motorway, tucked into the Hurst Lanes. A photo stop in the sunshine.

Becky, Cathy, Gehana, Daphne, Catherine.

Not a cloud in the sky as we look towards Hurst Church.

I asked the ladies after 5.5 miles if they felt they could do a few more before we headed to coffee? Of course! So we went up Sandford Lane in 2 groups, shouting "hi" to Gill who was cycling down. 😊. Over the bridge, we turned left to pass the Airfield Museum and drop in to Dinton Pastures.

They stopped for me to photograph the patch of Loddon Lillies.

Loddon Lillies. Or Summer Snowflakes.
They were first found in Hampshire growing along the Loddon, hence the name.

Beautiful Hawthorn tunnel at Dinton Pastures.

Too nice to sit indoors today!

Lovely chat over coffee, and we returned backtracking to Winnersh, shouting "hi" to Andrea this time! Then we cut through Sadlers Lane and through the woods to Woosehill. I had planned to use the cyclepaths all the way back through Woosehill, but one path was closed with some tree pruning going on, so we just detoured to Chestnut Avenue instead.

Well done ladies. and hope that this will be the start of your journey to building miles over the coming weeks. I appreciate that not everyone can make every Thursday, but thats fine too. Hope to see you agai soon. Anne
