We were on hols last week in Cornwall, so have not been cycling for a whole week! We started in Odiham today, revisiting a route we did in May. I forgot to look at the route before we left, so it was all a surprise to me.😉
Route
Parking at the canal, we left Odiham, passed the Fox and Goose at Greywell, continuing to Up Nately, then a left turn towards Mapledurwell.
|
Straight over here, after waiting for the horse to move on. |
A bit of a climb now, reaching this archway of foliage at the top. John a bit behind, and turns out his power is "intermittent". Oh dear. More climbing on this route, and a heavy bike with no power, not good news 😔. I recognise this view!

Near Weston Patrick ... I think. |

John checking to see if a reason for my "rattle". |
|
Quick stop in a field nr Bagmore (as you do). |
John assures me I will soon recognise something else as we turn off Bagmore Lane, into Bell Lane towards Ellisfield. (sounds a bit familiar). I did recognise a garden wall with a "hole" in it with the pretty church shortly afterwards.

Ellisfield church. |

opposite the church |
A short climb on a narrow lane follows the Church stop, and soon left into Green Lane. I eventually recognise this long downhill stretch to pass a wood, where on our last visit in May, there was a
stunning show of bluebells.

At the Xroads ahead, Garmin wanted us to turn right, but last time we had gone straight on, so ignored Garmin. We were then "off course" for several miles, but basically, just two sides of a square and eventually it found us again as we approach Preston Candover.

Just checking the route on his phone. |
We arrive a junction, and turn left to Preston Candover, continuing past the community shop to our tea stop at The Yard, in Chilton Candover.
|
Left here, towards Lasham |
|
Crossing the A339 towards Lasham and Froyle |
We undulate a bit now watching a couple of gliders from Lasham airfield overhead, and John's power still intermittent unfortunately. Just as well he is pretty fit. I would be having lots of break by now. Straight over the Golden Pot crossing, heading on Froyle Road, which although long, is very gradual. A nice road with plenty of tree shade this time of year. Before we reach Lower Froyle, we turn left to emerge next to the "field with the horse in it", as I call it , since once a long, long time ago, there was a horse in this field.😂 But I know exactly where I am, which is the whole point.

The horse is missing ..... again! |
A nice drop down now, then up again to pass the back entrance to Lord Wandsworth College, then continuing to the junction with the pond ahead at Long Sutton. Left and right into Woodhill Lane, and we are almost back to Odiham. I noticed some bright yellow landing strip lights for RAF Odiham, which I am sure were not there before on our right. John thinks they are a recent addition. The clouds as we approach Odiham were lovely, so a few more snaps.
Always nice to finish on a downhill, all the way from the High Street to the canal. 😊
