Holyport via Cranbourne -32 miles

Today I had the good company of Stephanie, on a misty, grey, but not so cold morning, around 4 degrees. I was testing my newly delivered "winter" cycling shoes so I was nice and toasty, whereas Stephanie did get cold feet for some parts of the ride. The mist remained the whole time but at least we got home before the threatened rain came pouring down.

We were heading for Holyport on the now very familiar route for me, but at least a few new bits for Stephanie, including the coffee shop.

Route

We met at Blagrove Lane, and headed to Binfield on the Binfield Road. I suggested we try the Monks Alley, since we have had no recent rain.... it was absolutely fine. Then we made our way to Moss End, and past Warfield Church.

Fields just past Warfield church

Now to Maidens Green to join the Drift Road turning off at Fifield. Then we used the cut through to Holyport on Green Lane and Gays Lane. Gays lane was all dry too (can be a bit messy at times).

We had our cuppa on the bench near the shop.

colourful bench stop today in Holyport

A little wiggle through the village and more daffs edging the pond. The Willow just on the turn to opening.

Since the "off road" sections had been pretty good so far, I suggested we use Long Lane to avoid riding on the main A330 Ascot/Holyport Road. It all went really well......... for a while. Then it was a mess.

Long Lane. Not such a good idea after all.😏

Not far after this photo, a bit more cycling then I thought I might be about to fall off so stopped. Steph also stopped but actually did fall off into a ditch with thorny branches. BUT she was laughing, so we were soon on our way once more. It eventually improved but dont plan to use this route again for several more weeks. (I got my new shoes dirty too)😂

Across to Paley Street, then Howe Lane and the slog up Billingbear to Carters Hill, and by then no one was cold. We crossed Wokingham again through Ludgrove and said our goodbyes at Blagrove Lane. Thanks for joining me Steph. See you soon.
