Crazies Hill - 30 miles with misty start

Saturday is normally a NON cycling day of rest.... but with freezing temperatures forecast for several days ahead, it seemed like a good idea to get out again while we can. I was with John this morning.  But not until after 10.30, which was almost too late for the lovely mist this morning.

We had to wait until Green Flag had been to provide "home start" cover. Our car died a couple of days ago, with flat battery. This lockdown has seen a big increase in callouts apparently 'cos cars are not getting enough mileage to charge their batteries properly, going to the supermarket and back.   We can now get to the garage, but our battery needs replacing. Which is about £400 😓

We thought we would head up Sandford Lane since it's open once more, but we spotted some mist in the other direction so a change of plan as we approached Sandford Lane.

Route

Not very misty at all but I liked the light on the pile of rubbish!

Now we just cycled around a bit whilst there was some mist in this area...

The mist burned off fast, so no more misty shots as we headed to Ruscombe, then for a change used the main road from Ruscombe to Waltham St Lawrence, so a different view of Milley Bridge, where the houses were nicely lit with billowing clouds over them.  We would soon be riding past them and over the railway.

We ended up on our usual route to Crazies Hill, where there were loads of people walking followed by loads more in a Q for the horsebox takeaway. So we just peddled home again via Warren Row and Shurlock Row.  John got a broken spoke on the back wheel of his gravel bike yesterday, which he can't fix himself, so an ebike day today. Stuck the power on from Shurlock Row to get home... bliss.
