Holyport via Cranbourne - 29.5 miles

It was thankfully much milder today, and I set off from home in 5 degrees. I  met with Louise on Blagrove Lane, and we headed through Wokingham to Binfield. Louise just got a Garmin, so having sent her the route yesterday, she led us today for practice and to understand the different screens etc.

Route

Passing Ludgrove School there were 5 Heron once again gathered by the old fallen tree. Crossing to Waterloo Road, we cut through Clay Lane, (just beyond Priest Avenue) to connect to William Heelas Way, and then using the cycle paths, crossed the roundabout and up the hill towards the ski slope, then into the quiet Murrell Hill Lane.

From Binfield we wiggled our way to Frost Folly, stopping for endless nose blows! Not sure what it was today with the weather, but we both had dripping noses the whole ride!  A welcome stop at the pretty church in Warfield.

Next through Maidensgrove, skirting the edges of Foliejon park, and onto the Drift Road. Dropping down to Fifield we used the off road tracks to Holyport. A little muddy, but not too bad mostly, since not much rain this past couple of weeks.  As we arrive into Holyport, this lovely garden wall on a property faces us on Langworthy Lane.

A little detour round Holyport backstreets followed by a few minutes rest on the bench by the pond, where Louise shared some delicious home made Mincemeat crumble cakes which she brought. Delicious! Thanks Louise.

A brief stop at Holyport pond.

Although much milder today, we both had cold hands by the time we got moving again, and the breeze had picked up now too. We battled into the wind through Paley Street and along Howe Lane. We dropped down from Howe Lane, to immediately climb up Billingbear Lane over Carters Hill. Once at the top, a cyclist coming towards us, turned out to be Debbie, a cyclist who joined Breeze at the same time as Louise. I had been asking Louise earlier on our ride if she had ever seen Debbie?  We had a laugh too as Debbie stopped and immediately commented that she was constantly blowing her nose today.😂

Finally, back to Wokingham via Ashridge and through Cantley. Thanks for your company Louise and hope we get out again soon. Covid still rising, with deaths over 1000 every day in the UK.  "The next few weeks are going to be the worst" according the medical and science experts. Will we even be able to continue to meet up with one other person for exercise? It is now rumoured that outdoor exercise may be limited to help stop the spread.  It would be such a shame if not. So good for our mental health to get out and chat to another person.
