Wokingham to Crazies Hill - 34 miles

I arranged to meet up with Denise this morning at The Victoria Arms, Binfield.  Since she has not been out much on her bike for a few weeks, I thought that probably 25 miles would be enough for her, so I planned a route which took us north of Binfield. My milage was 34 miles.

I left Wokingham via the Binfield Road and stopped for this photo on Forest Road.

Forest Road/Binfield Road Junction

Turning right just beyond the pub, we rode on Tilehurst Lane, which brought us out at The Stag and Hounds where we turned left and soon took a right into Ryehurst Lane. This way is actually not so messy as dropping down at the football club entrance to Ryehurst Lane. The water levels at the little bridge were pretty high, and it wont take too much more rain before it could easily become flooded here.

Now on a familiar route to White Waltham, where we turned right into the Heywood Farm Barns Road, to avoid the main road through the village, and reemerging to cross into Breadcroft Lane. Now across Cycle route 4 looking to Knowl Hill.

We bypassed Velolife this morning, since no tables or loo available atm, (lockdown) and instead planned to try the "horsebox" takeaway called "Cuppa Joe &Co", which is parked up outside The Horns Pub Mon-Fri 8am -noon.  Cuppa Joe & Co A few tables and chairs at the front of the pub are available. The owners of Cuppa Joe bake all of their own cakes etc each afternoon for the following day. Very nice!

Sun trying to break through as we have our cuppa

We returned to Binfield via Hare Hatch, Waltham St Lawrence and Shurlock Row arriving into Binfield on the really annoying climb around Carters Hill, and up past The Jack o' Newbury.  I left Denise and continued my return journey to Amen Corner along Murrell Hill Lane. I spotted the lovely open spaces to the right, where the horses were in a rather muddy field.

Hoping these lovely green spaces, will stay that way and no more housing!

I dropped down to the roundabout under the A329M and continued into Wokingham using part of the new cycle lane as far as Plough Lane.

Keephatch Road, still looking colourful

Back home finally via Cantley.  A mild November day, and great to be out after what was a pretty miserable wet weekend. Thanks for your company Denise.
