A "Woosehill Ladies" cycling day and great to see Martina, Lynne and Andrea all out again today. It's been months since we were all out together. I'm a day behind with my blog, due to a busy afternoon and evening. Lynne and Martina enjoying some "me time" with their kids finally back in school. Jeanette on a jolly camping trip, so one missing.
I planned the route and since the ground is still reasonable dry was aiming to try out a few off road tracks to get us to Holyport via Fifield. It turned out a lovely ride with variety of lanes, tracks and just the odd bit of main road to connect.
route
We left Wokingham on the Forest Road, then up Carters Hill, past the dog rescue, turning left into Billingbear. We crossed straight over at the bottom, into a bridal path, which is a very good surface for cycling. (I had walked this recently). This joins up with Stubbs Hill and Ryhurst Lane.
(photos taken on my mobile today, so lots of terrible blown skies! My camera is all set up on my Gimbal for filming this afternoon)

Cutting through Hazelwood Lane, we cross over at Moss End, up to Wellers Lane ie left at a green triangle!

A short section now right onto the Ascot Road, before left into Nuptown Road.

We continue straight now from Nuptown Road into an easy slight downhill track which starts quite wide and eventually is a tiny path, but fine, and connects to Drift Road. (John and I rode this the opposite way and its all uphill the other way!). I prefer to stay off the Drift Road, but this short section was fine, and we took the first left towards Fifield, which was all downhill. Turning left at the traffic lights, we now turn second right into Coningsby Lane, then left into Green Lane, and right into Gays Lane, which is another bridal way, but a very good surface.

Our tea stop today is at a cafe which Susie introduced me to, called The Cuppa in Holyport. They were previously only doing take away, but now have set up their small garden space, and in the sunshine today it was perfect. No views, but great cake selection.

As we road through Holyport village, passing the lovely green, we turn left into Moneyrow Green, and pass some amazing properties. We see 4 cyclists coming towards us who are Susie, Linda, Jackie and Daphne on their way to The Cuppa! A very brief chat since not ideal place to stop.

To avoid the busy Ascot Road to Paley Street, we turn left into a lane called Long Lane, which is a good surface which becomes a track, but fine in dry weather, and eventually turns back to a good surface with a few houses towards the end. From here we cross to Sheepcote Lane, around the back of Paley Street, then a right turn into Paley Street, at Paley Street (which becomes Snowball Hill) taking us over the M4 on the pedestrian bridge. We have a roadblock to contend with ......

We turn off Snowball Hill at the first bend onto the Farm track, taking us to the White Waltham Road.

And now on the homestretch, we return via White Waltham and Shurlock Row, and finally across the Lanes of Hurst back to Winnersh.
A longish ride for those who have not done so much riding for a few weeks, for not too hilly. Well done ladies. Glad you all enjoyed the variety today.
