I led a ride today from Woosehill to White Waltham which would be 23 miles. But would all the roads be open today, after a bit more rain again since last night? Or will this be another of Anne's "mystery" tours?
Part of the route - forgot to switch it on!
We started from Woosehill, other than Clare who had arranged to meet us opposite Dinton Pastures. But when we arrived, no Clare. A quick phone call and we learned that she couldn't get to us, because all routes from her home were flooded. (Off to a good start!)
All went well, and we had blue skies and sunshine for our route through Hurst, up Church Hill, before a brief stop at the duck pond.
Now down past The Green Man, and on to Hungerford Lane, where I realised I haven't switched my Garmin on (not for the first time!), so recorded from this point. Then on to Shurlock Row, and another stop next to another pond, where I asked the ladies to pose for this "reflection".

Snow drops too at Shurlock Row Pond. |
We then went round a triangle, just to investigate a lane I had yet ridden called Beanham's Heath. Nice little lane, then back on to familiar route over to White Waltham.
Our stop today was at White Waltham Flying club. A new stop for Breeze and it was lovely. (It's not generally open to the public, but they were happy to serve us. Almost a disaster as there were 7 bits of Flapjack .... and 7 of us!!

Best foot forward. Anne, Rachael, Linda, Becky, Maya, Katherine and Rachael. |
A few helicopters coming and going, and one plane came in, but it was quite a blustery day, so not ideal flying conditions. As we finished our tea, the sky changed quite dramatically. Oh dear!

Darkening skies as we leave the airport |
Now a dash for home before the rain comes. No such luck, so we got rather wet. We returned via Waltham St Lawrence, passing the village school, then as an experiment, turned into Brook Lane. What were the chances of it being passable...... erm...

Brook Lane, Waltham St Lawrence. |
Didn't fancy this, so doubled back and returned via Plough Lane, and eventually back up Church Hill, Hurst. It stopped raining for a bit, then came on again by the time we got back to Woosehill. Linda left us , heading for Bracknell and the rest of the ladies continued home to Finchampstead.
Well done team. You clocked up another 30 miles. Average speed 10.3mph.
See you again soon. Anne
