Easter Sunday, and out with John today. It was hot! My second outing on my ebike, and some serious hills to test it out. 1500 feet gain overall. Only used battery power on the more serious hills, and returned with 75% battery unused. The bike rides like a dream even without the battery, so although it's a bit heavier, doesn't feel like it, most of the time.
Route (Garmin ran out 2 miles short of the end, at Hambleden)
We parked by the Thames at Remenham Church, where the blossoms were beautiful. Hambleden Lock was busy with boats, and shortly after crossing we took the turn up to Rotten Row. It was amusing to overtake a serious cyclist on that hill, without even panting! Lovely views at the top.

Now on to Freith, where at the crossroads we turned right towards Lane End. Stopped there for a few more photos of the Cowslips on the Village Green

We continued crossing over the M40, heading towards West Wycombe and realised how high we were.

View to West Wycombe Mausoleum |
A wonderful long downhill next, before we join the main road for a short time, on the footpath. As a detour, we then climbed a very steep hill (with ease) up to the Mausoleum, which is a dead end but worth the views to look back where we just came from......

fine views to West Wycombe House too from up here at the Mausoleum |
A pleasant ride back down the steep hill, before taking another climb on the Chinnor Road, which soon flattens out. A left now into a quiet lane (Bottom Road), which will take us to Radnage.

We continued with a few more climbs, but mostly easy going, through Waterend, Beacons Bottom, and Horsleys Green, before once more cycling over the M40, then into Chequers Lane, which brough us out at the Chequers Pub at Fingest.

Now we rode the familiar route through the Hambleden Valley, where the tea shop was pretty busy, being Easter Sunday.

Finally, back across the weir, and the number of Dandelions were very abundant across the meadow.

Man down.... taking a photo! |
A lovely ride, with a few new places (or ones I had forgotten!). I can recommend an ebike to anyone who loves to be out enjoying the elevated scenery, without the slog..... you still have to work, but I don't feel the least bit guilty!
