Ipsden to Stoke Row - 20 miles

I am feeling a little weary after my 3rd bike ride this week, totalling 80 miles.

Today I led my "Woosehill Ladies" Group starting from Ipsden at King William 1V pub.

Route

It was a grey, grey day, but otherwise no strong winds or anything to complain about.  We headed off in the direction of Ewelme, and shortly before we arrived to drop down in to the village, this Helicopter hovering taking off from RAF Benson just below us.

The ladies had not been to Ewelme before, so a short tour of the village showing them the Watercress beds and the lovely Almshouses.

Now our climb out up to Swyncombe. I came DOWN this road on Monday, which was much more pleasant!

I got  a little further, but we all walked in the end. A tough hill to the top to the Ridgeway. Doesn't look much in the photo,
but it goes on a good bit further.

Our route then took us to Park Corner, where just as we turned off, two young girls with a map asked me where they were?  I was amused that I was able to tell them exactly where they are, even if the map was upside down. (Hubby would be proud of me!)

We continued, although Martina, who is young and fit, was feeling a little exhausted. A biscuit was all she needed to recover, and we were soon on the way once more for proper cake and tea at Stoke Row Village Store.

Fully recovered, we set off, just a few miles to go, which was fortunate since Lynne's chain came off as we turned the corner heading for Checkendon.

We spent several minutes, and even with 3 of us, could not get it back on.  A handy male cyclist came passed and I asked if he could help.  Of course he probably thought we were just being pathetic, but after several more minutes, he  also admitted defeat. Although we were disappointed, we were quietly pleased that he also failed!

Martina and I continued back to the van, leaving Lynne to walk a little and we would pick her up.

The white building on the far left is where the van is. Almost there
We got back, and then disaster. I couldn't find the van keys. I emptied every pocket and checked every section of my bum bag.  Then I tried the rear door, and it opened. Oops. So in other words I hadn't locked it so where were they keys?  Panic over as I found them on the back seat. Phew! Enough excitement for one day.  We were soon back to liaise with Lynne and pick her up.

A nice ride, just wishing for a bit of sunshine. Thanks for your company ladies. Sorry that Jeanette was not able to join us today, and hope you feel better soon.
