Wokingham to Wargrave & Crazies Hill - 29 miles

A beautiful autumnal day today, or at least it started that way, before it became a bit gloomy and windy.

Susie and Chris led today, starting at Dinton Pastures.

Route on Gmap

Initally we cycled around the Hurst Lanes to join Castle Hill through Hurst, crossing the main road and into Hogmoor Lane.

From here we emerge close to the B3018 (Wokingham to Twyford Road). A right followed by a left takes us into Hungerford Lane, then first left into West End Road. The trees were looking lovely at times with the sunlight.

West End Road

Continuing to Tjunction, then left  (over the little bridge) and continue to the end to the 4 way junction near Waltham St Lawrence. Passed the Old Bell, and continuing over the railway bridge, where I stopped to take this 4 shot panorama....... then had some catching up to do!

Just beyond the railway bridge , Milley Lane.

T Junction and over the A4.   Straight over into Tag Lane, and LEFT into Blakes Lane, towards Wargrave.

Turing left at Blakes Lane, towards Wargrave.

Now being careful not to miss the right turn BEFORE the road drops downhill, signposted Crazies Hill. Continue along and uphill eventually to the  Horns Pub junction. I raced ahead to get the group approaching Crazies Hill.

Approaching Crazies Hill

Now right towards Warren Row, and the coffee stop, Velolife, is on the left. No one else there when we arrived today but it soon became quite busy.

After a long natter of 45 minutes, we continued on this road, once more crossing over the A4, and headed back via Bottle Lane to Knowl Hill and White Waltham.  A right turn at the Beehive Pub, then first left eventually bring us back to Shurlock Row. Down the Straight Mile ( in a head wind as ever on this road!), and back via Broadcommon Lane and Islandstone Lane just for a change. Now right onto the main Hurst Road for a few hundred yards, and left into  Orchard Road. Back up Castle Hill and into Dinton the back door via Sandford Lane.

A lovely ride especially with the autumn colours. Thanks to our organisers for a great morning out.
