Bank Holiday Bike Ride Odiham to Upper Froyle 23 miles

A new route today for me, but John had done this once before.

John's GARMIN DATA

We drove and parked next to the canal in Odiham and turned left off of the High Street into King Street, which becomes Cemetery Hill. At the first junction, left into Hillside Road. (I know this road from the other direction, but never come this way round)

Next, we turned right into Roke Road, where I took this view.

We continued along Roke Road, and almost collided with a car, which turned out to be good friends Barry and Monica, whom we had not seen for months, but saw 2 days ago! We had thought to pop in to see them at their home, just another mile ahead, but of course they were on their way out.

Our friends lovely home.

We continued into the pretty village of Crondall, where we turned left then right into Church Street.

A loop through Crondall, then we joined Well road, enroute to Well.

Enroute to Well (I think)

Pretty Well on the green triangle at Well. (not in use)

We continued, heading for Lower Froyle. Every part of ride today seemed to be uphill, even to Lower Froyle!

After Lower Froyle we continued to Upper Froyle, which was down a long hill!!

Beautiful conversion in Upper Froyle, just opposite the church

At Froyle Park, we turn right, and along an undulating lane. No not undulating, UPHILL again. At the top, I took this 4 shot panorama looking back to where we had come from. This was the highest point of todays route.

We now had to join the busy B3349  from Blounce into South Warnborough, where a promised cup  of tea and cake were waiting. But.......

Disaster! Bank Holiday Monday, and closed.  We sat on the bench and had a drink of water, sharing an emergency bar, then shortly turned left onto quieter lanes again, well into Lees Hill, which was a steep incline and I was not prepared for that!  At the top of the hill, a view back to the South Warnborough Church.

Now on to Upton Grey, where we turned right at the pond.

Into Greywell, turning right at the Fox and Goose, and back into Odiham.  The town centre was closed to traffic today, so we walked out bikes through considering lunch from a stall, but with no seats available, decided to head home.

Great bank weekend weather, so I hope that everyone's outdoor plans were as good as ours today.
