A gorgeous day and the weather has warmed up to 24 degrees today. A friends ride starting at Crazies Hill.
Team was Linda and Nigel, Ravinder, Kelly, John and me.
Down to Flower Pot at Aston, then over HambledenWeir, where sunshine twinkled on the river. Gorgeous and warm already at 9.30ish
Quick stop off at Hambleden Villages facilities.

John and Nigel |
|
Nigel well ahead up Dudley Lane towards the Vineyard. |
|
But John like us, still cant make this nightmare hill 16% gradient. |
|
Linda in denial, looking away from the camera! |
But we did all get back on and made it to the top. Here comes Ravinder in the lovely dappled shade of the beech trees.
Now on to Southend, Turville Heath and Northend. I was the only one who stopped at this great view through the gate just approaching North End.

4 of the group had gone ahead a bit too far, and missed the turning.. John chased after them, whilst I waited........ |
|
Here they come backtracking to take the road down into Turville |
A fabulous downhill (Holloway Lane) and we regrouped at the bottom amongst the bluebells just entering Turville.
|
Seconds later, Nigel's tyre punctured. |
Whilst Kelly and Nigel fixed his punctured tyre, the others continued into Turville for a few photos.
|
Linda spotting an opportunity to see the windmill |
|
And my view of the windmill |
|
Timeless scene in Turville other than the florescent jackets! |
Now on through Fingest, climbing right towards Frieth, where the farmer was out with his tractor
Then straight over at the crossroads.
Over again, onto this "track" with no name, Nigel ahead once more.

Then a right turn towards Rockwell Hill End, which emerges at Pheasants Hill, back in Hambleden. Got up to 30.5 mph down this hill.....eeeek! Didn't feel entirely in control!!
|
Approaching Hambleden and the cattle feeling the heat too |
|
Our reward! |
|
The stream through Hambleden running well, for how long I wonder? |
Lovely ride, should have done some work today, but never mind. There is always tomorrow.
