Blackwater Valley Breeze Ride - 22 miles

A beautiful day today, and Stephanie had organised a ride from Finchampstead to the Blackwater Valley. Similar to the route we did about 6 weeks ago, but a detour after coffee stop to do the circuit around Moore Green Lakes, and Horseshoe Lake, which was new for me.
Route from last time.

My first photo was at the gorgeous property at the bottom of Blagrove Lane, which was looking particularly pretty this morning in dappled shade.

Frothy cow parsleys on Blagrove Lane

Evendons Lane.

We me at Finchampstead BC, a short ride along Nine Mile Ride, then up the "horse gallop" track towards Finchampstead Church

Then into the Ridges....

A Portaloo changeover, cause a blockage at the Ridges, meant we had to wait to get through.

Arriving at Chequers for coffee.

A failed attempt at a selfie group shot!

Before the waitress came to our rescue and took one of all of us. 2 new riders that I had not met before today. Mary, Sally, Jackie, Stephanie, Carole, Chris, Jackie (2!), Susie and me.

Our detour around Horshoe Lakes, alongside the Blackwater River.

It;s half term, so some children around learning some new water skills.

We had to walk our bikes at this point, as footpath only, and once through the Sailing club, a silly gate which does not make it easy for cyclists!

Inevitably we had to get up the dreaded Dell Road, but we all did it. Doesn't get any easier!

Almost back, and a circuit of California Lake, where I spotted these ducklings.

Many thanks as ever to Stephanie and Carole for their organisation, and to the other ladies for your company.
