WLCG Yateley via Farley Hill - 24 miles

 ANDREA IS BACK!

With the winter floods and mess behind us, Andrea has been out with her hubby a few times recently, and today was the day she felt confident to join our Friday group again.  Jeanette on hols, and Louise busy today, so we were 5.

Route

We set off down Blagrove Lane, up to Arborfield Cross, then an up and down over Farley Hill.  My suggested route was the more gradual climb from the Swallowfield Road up Priest Hill, but I didn't mind which way. With Lynne at the front at this point, she chose to go up Castle Hill, which is 11% nearer the top. Martina has been, and still is, suffering from a cough, so she felt it on the hills today, but did it. And no problem for Andrea either.

A blurry shot of Gill moving too fast,
with Martina and Andrea also now at the top of Farley Hill.

Nice to ride down the other side on Church Lane, where we had a brief stop to regroup at the bottom.

A bit gloomy with the odd spot of rain
on Church Lane, Farley Hill.

While we're here... making use of a gate post.

Crossing to Sheerlands Road, we wiggled on the new cycle paths to join Park Lane, across Eversley Ford, and to Eversley Cross. We spotted the man who has 4 enormous dogs, which I have photographed at the pub a couple of times, many years ago.

Then right turn into Hollybush Lane, along the quiet lane to join Firgrove Road to Yateley.

The wind didn't half pick up as we reached the Sean Devereux Golf club!   Brrr.

After refreshments and chat, we carried on skirting the edge of Horsehoe Lake, then up Ambarrow Lane, where we stopped to go into the bluebell wood.

Ambarrow Woods

Saddlecam shot, but we are blocking the Bluebells.
Pink, orange, yellow, turquoise and blue. (with music please)

A bit higher this time, with bluebells behind.

We crossed over at the top of Ambarrow Lane to use the track to Crowthorne Station. It was pretty clean considering all the wet weather. Then through the golf course, holding back for a tee off shot! (Which we think went into the tree. πŸ˜‰)   Heathlands Road was busier than I have ever seen it today. Anything to do with other roadclosers?  It started to rain, so rather than follow the route North Wokingham, we cut it short by returning via Ludgrove School and finally on the Woosehill cylepaths.

Well done Andrea, and nice to see everyone after Easter school holidays. Gill will be missing for the next couple of Fridays, off on a cycling adventure to Korea.  But before that, I will see her on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. πŸ˜‚
