Breeze Sunday Ride to Hurley Lock - 28 miles

I don't usually offer a Sunday ride, but was home alone today. I posted a ride a few days ago,  to see if any fancied a ride? It filled up in no time. It was nice to see a few ladies that I don't ride with so often, and to meet Caroline for only the second time.

The cafe at Hurley Lock only opens up after Easter, so I thought about time I went back there.  I took my GoPro today and did a little bit of filming, for a short film I will add to over the coming weeks. (Looking for willing volunteers to do a short "piece to camera" too, about their experiences with Breeze. 😉)

We were 8 in total today, so split into 2 groups a few times on the main road sections. A big thanks to Amy, who was my unofficial assistant today. Great work Amy.

Through Shurlock Row to White  Waltham, and then  into Bottle Lane to take a right turn across the Knowl Hill bridal circuit through the crop fields. A bit blowy again today, and we felt it across here.

Across the A4 into Green Lane to link to  Burchetts Green, and over the speed ramps, we turned into Honey Lane to climb towards the Dew Drop Inn. Some lovely patches of bluebells here.

A very short section on the Henley Road, and we arrived in Hurley Village, and then over the pedestrian bridge across the Thames.
Crossing the Thames at Hurley in beautiful sunshine.

Teashop just passed the barge.

We arrived the same time as 10 paddle boarders,
but got served fairly quickly. Some delicious cheese and ham savouries new on the menu. Yum.

Back through Hurley to ride along Shepherd Lane, to once more ride a short section of the Henley Road, before our turn into Rose Lane, and climb up to Crazies Hill. The equestrian area all looking as pristine as ever. A lovely whizz  downhill from Crazies Hill, and soon crossed the A4 from Tag Lane. Jean left us here to ride to Twyford, and we carried on over Milley Bridge to Waltham St Lawrence.  I knew the Shottesbrook Lambs were out the back of the village, so a short detour to see them.

Halls Lane, Waltham St Lawrence to see the lambs.

Our last few miles, via West End to Hurst and over the motorways to Cantley.

Well done everyone, especially those who have not been our much for a while. Nice to spend the morning with you all.
